Staff Software Engineer (Hands-On | Tech Leadership | €100–150K + Stock)

Location: Berlin (Hybrid – 4x/month onsite)

A fast-growing tech-first unicorn (valued at €3B+) is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join its newly formed internal technology division—focused on building scalable, modern platforms that drive the next phase of product innovation.

This is a 100% hands-on IC role where you’ll lead technically across projects and teams, design complex systems, and play a key role in shaping architecture and engineering culture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and lead backend architecture and systems across multiple projects (greenfield work, no legacy).
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor across engineering squads.
  • Stay deeply hands-on with code while influencing technical direction and standards.
  • Drive cross-team initiatives that improve quality, performance, and scalability.

Tech Stack:

  • Current: , C#, Azure
  • Open to: Any language background (Java, Go, Python, Kotlin, Rust, etc.)

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ roles at Staff, Principal, or Lead level (or 3.5+ years in one)
  • Experience leading technical direction across multiple projects or teams
  • Strong track record of driving change in engineering practices, tooling, or architecture
  • Comfortable in both startup and enterprise environments
  • Passionate about coding and solving complex engineering problems
