Location: This hybrid role requires 3 days on-site at our Burnaby office and 2 days remote per week.
Salary: $130,000 – $180,000
Actual compensation within the range will be based on experience. We also offer a quarterly variable compensation package (bonus) + benefits.

Role Summary
The role of Head of Financial Planning and Analysis will lead the Commercial Finance function managing a team of finance business partners to support effective financial and commercial decision making across Canada. The role will be responsible for the financial planning, reporting, and analysis to drive financial performance, and will report directly into the Finance Director (VP).
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Own short-term and long-term financial budgeting, projections, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop and maintain detailed financial and operational plans.
- Own cost management reporting and accountability with stakeholders.
- Analyse current and historical financial performance to identify trends, providing financial insights to inform the strategic direction of the business.
- Own the variance analysis between actual performance and budget/forecast, identifying key drivers and making recommendations for improvement across the Canadian business.
- Financial Analysis: Accountable for the financial analysis and performance evaluation across all channels, including campaigns, incentives, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the data team, and other departments, to ensure one source of truth for financial analysis.
- Drive the development of standardized performance reporting across the Canadian store portfolio.
- Develop and oversee the tracking and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities for performance improvement.
- Monitor competitor activities and market trends, benchmarking Specsavers’ performance against the industry, identifying potential risks, opportunities, and recommending strategies.
- Financial Modelling: Build and maintain financial models to drive strategic planning, scenario analysis, and decision-making.
- Conduct sensitivity analysis to assess the potential impact of various economic and operational factors.
- Reporting: Develop and own financial reports to business leaders, summarizing key insights and trends, including executive-level presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Interpret analysis and reports to provide actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Develop and maintain an internal network so that financial analysis is at the forefront of decision making.
- Create working groups with in-country decision makers to ensure the end-to-end effect of any changes are evaluated and agreed.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather data, understand the business, and incorporate insights into financial plans.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement driving efficiency and effectiveness in analysis, reporting, and planning.
The Individual
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of progressively senior experience in financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and budgeting with one or more direct reports, preferably in the retail industry.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical mindset, logical reasoning, and business acumen with proven experience in commercial analytics.
- Ability to develop, lead, and inspire teams.
- Understanding of databases, data structures, and data models.
- Experience with financial modelling and preparing persuasive business cases.
- Strong presentation skills, excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
