Our client is one of Canada’s top financial services companies, specializing in venture lending solutions for high technology companies. Founded three years ago by experienced entrepreneurs, venture capital partners, and investors, the firm has rapidly expanded its national footprint, providing over $25 million in financings to more than 100 companies across Canada.

Scope of Position

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead our client’s business in Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the company’s portfolio and managing client relationships in Canada’s largest and most vibrant market.

Functional Tasks

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate attractive loans for the organization.
  • Manage funding transactions, including document preparation and tracking, liaising with legal counsel, and monitoring accounting processes.
  • Build the company’s brand in Ontario to establish it as the premier venture debt funding provider.
  • Oversee portfolio companies within the region.
  • Develop and strengthen networks with venture capital funds, accountants, lawyers, intermediaries, and industry stakeholders for deal sourcing and credibility enhancement.
  • Ensure investments and loans align with the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • Manage risks associated with the portfolio.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts as needed.
  • Provide strategic and financial advice to the firm and portfolio companies as required.

Preferred Experience / Education

  • Understanding of corporate cost of capital and financing economics.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the technology finance sector, well-connected, with excellent client management skills.
  • Ability to assess financial, operational, and personnel risks accurately.
  • Comfortable working within the technology industry sector.
  • Clear thinker with the ability to convey value propositions effectively.
