Job Summary
The Senior Hardware Designer is fully competent in Digital and Analog Hardware design and typically fills the role of Hardware Technical Lead on a project team.
The Senior Hardware Designer is expected to complete design, prototyping, research and basic testing of new or existing hardware projects with a minimum of supervision.
Duties And Responsibilities
The Senior Hardware Designer will:
Primarily drive best practices around the development of embedded hardware products.
- Optimize interdepartmental processes
- Drive recommended technology training for hardware designers
- Lead a DFX program with a focus on design for supply chain, manufacturing, testability and reliability.
- DFMEA experience an asset.
Periodically develop hardware projects including the design, planning and scheduling in accordance with established procedures and guidelines as described in Product Development Process.
Potentially line manage component engineering team.
Research and Design
- Explore and research new technologies that align with product direction.
- Support technical evaluations of proposed designs as needed.
- Help gather and document product requirements.
- Identify potential project risks and suggest mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to cost assessments for current and proposed designs.
- Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for various product versions.
- Develop schematic and circuit board layouts.
- Coordinate with the mechanical design team to ensure design alignment.
