Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain highly reliable, scalable software systems for AWS services.
- Build innovative new features and capabilities into AWS services to solve complex customer problems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues through root cause analysis, balancing time-to-resolution with proper fix implementation.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions and debugging sessions.
- Drive architecture, design and implementation of systems across object storage, compute, database and analytics.
- Collaborate with product, UX and program management to deliver customer-focused solutions.
A day in the life
Start your day, grab a coffee (or tea), say hi to your team, participate in the daily standup, participate in a design review meeting, have a one-on-one with one of your engineers, work on your team’s roadmap, guide the operational review meeting to monitor the health of the service.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
