SR. Product Launch Manager

Full Time, Permanent

Hybrid – Scarborough ON

The Senior Product Launch Manager plays a critical and central role at Cosmetica in ensuring successful execution of projects and timely launches of products in the market for our customers. In this role you will manage a team to drive stakeholder engagement and cross functional collaboration between various departments.

The ability to think critically to make decisions and communicate effectively is paramount. You will own the entire project life cycle and see it through fruition. Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team of Product Launch Managers and Product Launch Coordinators to coach them throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on building team capability.
  2. Responsible for execution of the Brief to PO process working with R&I, Procurement, Finance, and the Technical Resource Group (TRG) to create winning formulas that can be scaled and commercialized.
  3. Provide coaching to PLMs with respect to project execution; point of escalation to remove roadblocks and support decision-making.
  4. Provide guidance and oversight on the PLCs day-to-day activities to drive velocity in the Brief to PO process.
  5. Work in partnership with Business Development Executives (BDEs) as the Voice of the Customer to drive flawless customer experience, identify brief opportunities and solicit feedback.
  6. Drive the end-to-end new product development cycle using our Stage Gate System, starting with discovery, development, testing and validation, launch, and post launch review through collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders inclusive of turnkey and over the counter (OTC) products.
  7. Develop project scope ensuring all critical parameters are captured and aligned with the customer.
  8. Lead the cross-functional project team to achieve target costs, timelines and product attributes to support project conversion.
  9. Develop project plans that cover scope, time, cost, resources, communication, acquisitions, quality, risk management, stakeholder management and integration.
  10. Maintain up to date project timelines and project action tracker keeping the BDEs and other key stakeholders informed.
  11. Accountable for overall project execution, including critical decision-making as required.
  12. Produce and maintain accurate data and records related to the projects.
  13. Responsible to ensure that effective and efficient communication is established and maintained between the customer and all internal functions, keeping the project on the agreed timeline.
  14. Ensure all customer-facing internal teams provided consistent and excellent customer service.
  15. Complete detailed tracking and maintenance of accurate records on all transactions with customers, documenting any changes.
  16. Lead cross-functional project meetings and facilitate problem resolution when issues arise.
  17. Identify any possible issues or opportunities to improve efficiencies and minimize costs.
  18. Support/manage execution of relevant plans to exploit the business opportunities.
  19. Secure all approvals and signoffs from customers, manage/coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
  20. Propose continuous process improvement capabilities and opportunities.
  21. Report out project status to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.

Skills, Experience and Education:

  1. Post-secondary education required.
  2. Experience in product development within the cosmetics, personal care manufacturing, and/or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing industry.
  3. Minimum 5+ years’ project management experience (non-technical project management).
  4. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Effective project management and time management skills.
  6. Ability to drive and manage client and stakeholder expectations.
  7. Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, and passionate about developing others.
  8. Ability to build collaborative working relationships with cross functional teams.
  9. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
  10. Resourceful and solutions oriented; demonstrated critical thinking.
  11. Proficient with Stage Gate System.
  12. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.
  13. A solid understanding of manufacturing processes in cosmetics or related industry.
