You may lead projects or project steps within a broader project and may have some accountability for capacity planning. Roles at this level may be client-facing; also act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

We are looking for a proactive and accomplished Senior Analyst – Data Protection with expertise in Microsoft Purview to lead enterprise-wide data protection projects. You have technical knowledge, excellent operational execution, and excellent communication skills to support data governance, AI-driven DSPM (Data Security Posture Management), and compliance strategies across a complex digital ecosystem.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship : You will report to the Sr. Manager, Security GRC.

Your Moneris Career – What you’ll do

  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing optimization of Microsoft Purview for data classification, labelling, DLP, insider risk, information governance, and eDiscovery across Microsoft 365 and hybrid environments.

  • Design, implement, and manage end-to-end DLP operations – including policy creation, tuning, incident triage, and response workflows, ensuring minimal business disruption and maximum data protection.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data classification and retention policies tailored to regulatory requirements and organizational risk posture.

  • Enable advanced eDiscovery and litigation support capabilities using Microsoft Purview tools, ensuring defensible data retrieval for legal and compliance teams.

  • Implement and operate DSPM (Data Security Posture Management) controls for both structured and unstructured data across cloud and on-prem environments, including AI/ML data contexts.

  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to data protection alerts and incidents , ensuring escalation and resolution using Microsoft Purview insights and Microsoft Defender integration.

  • Perform risk assessments, privacy impact assessments (PIAs), and data protection gap analyses to identify risks and recommend improvements.

  • Deliver applicable metrics and dashboards on data protection effectiveness, DLP incidents, eDiscovery performance, and compliance coverage to partners and leadership.

  • Act as a liaison between cybersecurity, legal, compliance, and departments to ensure data protection strategies align with evolving operational and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead training, awareness, and enablement efforts for departments to lead secure data handling, label adoption, and policy adherence.

Your Moneris Career – What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience in information security, data protection, or compliance-focused roles.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (Information Protection, DLP, Compliance Manager, Insider Risk Management, eDiscovery, Communication Compliance)

  • Experience with data governance frameworks , privacy regulations and information lifecycle management .

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience with DSPM solutions and integrating data protection controls into AI/ML pipelines or data-rich environments.

  • Experience in DLP operations , metrics development, incident analysis, and partner reporting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex security topics for non-technical audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to influence across teams and levels.

  • Must have CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or Microsoft data protection certification
