Job Title: Commissioning Engineer
Location: Oklahoma City area
Target start date: Late August, early September
Work Schedule: 5-10s (may increase during actual commissioning)
Position Summary
The Commissioning Support Specialist will work under the direction of the Commissioning Manager to assist with all commissioning activities for a simple cycle power plant project, with a particular focus on LM6000 turbine systems. This role will provide technical and logistical support in planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities, ensuring that work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contractual and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Commissioning Manager in developing and maintaining the commissioning schedule, with emphasis on LM6000 turbine-related systems and interfaces.
- Review contractor deliverables, work procedures, and commissioning documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
- Assist in coordinating internal and external personnel involved in commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with project milestones and safety protocols.
- Participate in site inspections, system walk-downs, and punch list generation; track and verify completion of outstanding items prior to turnover.
- Monitor LM6000 turbine installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning progress, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions.
- Support the review of construction turnover packages to confirm that all required documentation is in place prior to commissioning activities.
- Help manage commissioning interfaces with engineering, construction, testing, operations, and OEM technical advisors.
- Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and daily toolbox talks; actively promote a safe work environment.
- Provide assistance with contract administration tasks such as documenting variations, preparing reports, and maintaining commissioning records.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date commissioning files and logs.
- Assist with tracking commissioning progress against schedule and reporting status to the Commissioning Manager.
Qualifications
- Hands-on commissioning or technical field experience with LM6000 turbines is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a support role within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Prior experience in power generation projects, preferably in simple cycle plant construction and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of safety standards, codes, and commissioning best practices.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and assist in resolving technical issues under guidance from the Commissioning Manager and OEM advisors.
