Welcome to CPAB – Canada’s Public Company Audit Regulator
The Canadian Public Accountability Board oversees public accounting firms that audit reporting issuers. We promote audit quality through proactive regulation, robust audit assessments, dialogue with stakeholders, and insights that inform capital market participants and enhance public confidence in financial reporting.
We are recruiting an Associate Director, Inspections to join our team.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive public company accounting and audit experience at a Big Four or other national accounting firm.
- CPA designation is required.
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and Canadian Auditing Standards; US GAAP knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 6 weeks per year.
- Bilingual in French and English is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of audit firms and their quality systems following CPAB’s methodology.
- Manage inspection work, meet deadlines, and ensure efficiency.
- Build professional relationships with colleagues, firms, and stakeholders.
- Prepare high-quality reports and participate in improvement initiatives.
- Support stakeholder engagement and thought leadership.
- Travel as needed throughout the year.
