Refugee Home Manager, Global Mission
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Refugee Home Manager will work with the Coordinator of Refugee Ministries in the development and supervision of The Peoples House, including administration and personal care for present and future residents.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines the duties and responsibilities for the Refugee Home Manager. This position seeks to align with The Peoples Church’s mandate of “Together in God’s Global Mission.”
- Manage resident intake and placements
- Provide support and supervision of night manager
- Supervise and manage all areas of house life, including but not limited to resident chore schedules, meal planning, shopping, supply acquisition, and house safety
- Provide support to residents relocating to our transitional home, as necessary
- Offer personal and spiritual care for residents, including but not limited to:
- Resident crisis management
- Pastoral care
- Supportive presence
- Providing practical support connections for residents
- In collaboration with the Refugee Ministries Coordinator, ensure upkeep and maintenance of the house
- Organize visits of volunteers and Life Groups in collaboration with the Refugee Ministries Coordinator
- Support other initiatives of the Global Mission Department
- Support other ministries to refugees
- Coordinate and liaise with other refugee-serving agencies (governmental and non-governmental)
Qualifications:
- Must have a deepening personal faith in Jesus Christ and support the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church
- Minimum 3 years of experience in global and/or local mission work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- High resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Proven ability to foster strong community connections is an asset
- Excellent computer skills, fully literate in MS Office suite
- First aid certification is an asset
- Crisis Intervention certification is an asset
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position.
- Must attend The Peoples Church
- Most hours will require presence at the refugee home
- Use of a personal vehicle for work as needed
- Flexible hours based on residents’ needs, coordinated with the Refugee Ministries
- Vulnerable Sector clearance required
- Occasional weekends and evenings required
- May need to respond in emergencies
