Job Status: 1 Temporary (Approx. 12 months) – Existing position vacancy

JOB PURPOSE

Supports CNO’s senior leadership team, board of directors and committees in developing, coordinating, and implementing strategic projects, initiatives and evidence informed strategic plans by leveraging knowledge, skills, and experience to promote safe nursing practice, while considering emerging trends and opportunities for innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consults system partners across the organization to develop and implement project plans (including scope, accountabilities, milestones, deliverables, risks, and mitigation strategies, change management, and evaluation) that support regulatory operations and strategic direction; establishes and facilitates cross-functional teams for initiatives; manages and reports on progress, budgets, results, and lessons learned.
  • Acts as an expert resource which can include “project lead” in the areas of professional regulation, governance, and relevant projects and initiatives.
  • Engages and be informed by various external system partners including government, regulators in Ontario and other jurisdictions and other partners in the system to ensure projects and initiatives are aligned with CNO’s Strategic Plan, key performance indicators and risk-based regulation.
  • Identifies and analyses trends and best practices, and their applicability to CNO.
  • Writes evidence-informed briefing materials for CNO’s senior leadership team, board of directors and committees with analysis and options including incorporating evidence and perspectives from system partners to support their decision-making.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a graduate degree in Public Administration, Nursing, Public Policy and/or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a similar role.
  • Experience developing and monitoring complex initiatives and work plans.

  • Project / Program Management – applies project management knowledge and skills and its methodologies, tools, and techniques to develop a comprehensive project plan which includes work activities, milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies, and adjusting approach, as priorities change.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills – synthesizes and analyzes information for trends, patterns, and best practices; demonstrates sound regulatory understanding and broader environmental issues to analyze issues and potential impacts.
  • Communication – communicates complex information such as writing concise and clear briefing notes that draws on research with evidence-based assessments and perspectives of system partners considered; engages various system partners as it relates to projects and initiatives, determines the communication delivery and approach, and adjusts approach when difficulty in understanding arises.
  • Consulting & Advising – defines issues, develops, and recommends regulatory policies including by-laws and regulations that consider needs of partners or parties, risks, urgency, scope, sensitivity of the problem and other relevant factors; guides others through complex recommendations to support effective implementation of plans, initiatives, and improvements; analyses outcomes and integrates lessons learned into future practice.
  • Demonstrated intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office such as Word and Excel.

Hiring Range: $122,973 – $130,679

Full Salary Range: $122,973 – $147,568
