What will your typical day look like?
As a Manager or Senior Manager in our US Tax Advisory and M&A Tax group, your role is pivotal in navigating the complexities of cross-border transactions. Your day involves providing expert advice and assistance to clients in various critical areas, including structuring corporate investment and expansion into the United States, developing acquisition strategies for US entities or assets, conducting due diligence on potential acquisitions, minimizing US permanent establishment concerns, and structuring US corporate inbound investments, primarily from Canada. You guide clients through the intricacies of entering the US market, ensuring their investments are strategically structured for optimal tax efficiency. Throughout the day, you engage with clients, collaborate with colleagues, and stay abreast of the latest tax regulations and trends. Your expertise and strategic insights are crucial in helping clients navigate the complexities of US tax laws and achieve their business goals.
About the team
Our team is growing! Currently we are seeking a Manager & Senior Manager for our US Tax group. With the continued trend toward globalization, most successful Canadian-based companies look to the U.S. for expansion. To minimize tax liabilities, ensure compliance, and take full advantage of cross-border opportunities, our clients need advice from our experts who understand U.S. federal and state taxation laws and their interaction with Canadian tax principles.
Our team works to research and understand tax transactions, through the knowledge of our clients’ business. We provide detailed tax returns and other cross-border tax compliance filings, and assist clients in their dealings with various tax authorities. We also perform technical research of taxation issues and assist in the implementation of value-added tax planning strategies.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
You are someone with:
• 5-7+ years of work experience in US Tax, with a focus on tax advisory and M&A tax
• Completed undergraduate degree; preference given to candidates with a CPA designation
• Strong background in interpreting financial information and providing strategic tax advisory services
• Demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively lead and mentor team members
• Proven team player with a high degree of flexibility and initiative
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage client relationships and engagements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex tax issues
• Proficiency in tax software and technology tools relevant to corporate tax advisory and M&A
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of US corporate tax
Total Rewards
The salary range for the Manager position is $84,000 – $140,000 and $116,000 – $215,000 for the Senior Manager position, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
