Salary Details
The salary range for this position is CAD $65.57/Hr. – CAD $94.25/Hr.

Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Director, Financial Planning and Business Support (Regional Community Services) to join our team. Reporting to the Regional Director, Strategic Financial Planning, the role involves providing strategic and operational decision support to senior leadership across various programs and organizations, including the Lower Mainland Consolidated Services and PHSA. The Director will liaise with stakeholders, oversee planning, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting processes, and offer senior-level advice on operational risks and issues. This position also involves influencing leadership on resource allocation and ensuring organizational sustainability and strategic alignment.

Reporting to the Director are Managers of Financial Planning and Business Support, Financial Analysts, and other support staff.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading financial planning and decision support for the designated CoC to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Informing the budget process to optimize resource allocation and investment outcomes.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly operating reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Identifying opportunities for new initiatives, preparing business cases, and conducting environmental scans.
  • Reviewing and assessing financial policies and procedures for effectiveness and compliance.
  • Representing the CoC/health authority in committees, negotiations, and external engagements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline plus CPA designation, with at least 10 years of senior financial planning experience or equivalent.

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and health care disciplines.
  • Operational planning, monitoring, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Leadership, communication, and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Strategic problem-solving abilities in dynamic environments.
  • Computer literacy with advanced skills in MS Office and financial systems.
