The location in Port Mellon, British Columbia, V0N2S0, CAN, is seeking talent to fill the position of Senior Project Manager-Construction Paper Operations . This is a full-time, permanent role.
Job Description
Paper Excellence is hiring a Senior Project Manager, Construction. This person will support the Project Delivery Group in evaluating major capital upgrades/modifications to paper and board machinery and supporting equipment. The role involves acting as the global subject matter expert and supporting all capital projects ($10M to $700M). Responsibilities include project evaluation and scoping, equipment design, vendor proposal evaluation, and overseeing installation and commissioning.
Role Responsibilities
- Evaluate major capital upgrades/modifications to paper and board machinery with the Project Delivery Group.
- Support all capital projects ($10M to $700M), including project scope, equipment design, vendor evaluation, and oversight of installation and commissioning.
- Provide technical advice to Mill Managers on current technology and solutions to reduce costs or improve throughput.
- Advise on capital proposals, machine requirements, and vendor negotiations as a technology expert.
- Introduce innovative technical solutions from the external marketplace.
- Use Business Review Meetings and KPIs to resolve issues early.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Paper Making Engineering; advanced degree is a plus.
- 5+ years experience as a Paper Machine Application Engineer or similar roles in paper mills or related industries.
- Experience with green or brownfield Paper Mill construction/rebuilds.
- Experience sourcing components globally, understanding OEM vs secondary vendors.

- Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000 per year.
- Work hours: 40 hours/week.

- Budget responsibility: over $8 million.
- Supervise 3-4 people.
