The GO Expansion scope includes fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications, and digital systems.
Responsibilities
- Installation Engineering Management
- Manage resources from a people management perspective, ensuring objectives are set and monitored.
- Manage team competencies in line with role requirements.
- Ensure on-time delivery and maintain KPIs in line with forecasts for all deliveries.
- Deliver engineering studies (Bill of Installation Materials / Quantities, Method Statements, Installation Materials Specification Requirements, Installation drawings, and configuration).
- Assess monthly the Prime’s progress and generate internal reports: Action plan progress, review, and updates.
- Plan and schedule Installation Engineering activities as per Alstom System requirements.
- Create, review, and approve all installation designs, including Method statements, drawings, and manage site copies with mark-ups. Review and analyze subcontractor reports, manage punch lists, and ensure ‘as-built’ drawings are in place before revenue service.
- Create and review Installation BOQ and update as per project requirements. Supervise first article inspections and obtain approvals from end users. Ensure traceability to installation requirements.
- List installation tools and organize regular inspections (calibration, notices, etc.).
- Lead, manage, organize, and plan installation activities with the Alstom Installation Team and/or subcontractors. Oversee building/works reception, including punch lists.
- Decide the start of work based on the 4M Checklist for Installation Engineering activities.
- Report on project installation activities and actions taken.
- Proficiency in BIM/AutoCAD/Microstation for creating/modifying 2D drawings is an asset.
- Pay attention to detail to understand mechanical and electrical drawings for installation.
- Familiarity with basic mechanical and electrical tools for testing and verification.
- Good communication skills and experience working in a unionized environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Able to work in office and field under seasonal environmental conditions.
- Adhere to safety rules outlined by site, company, and industry standards.
- Occasional international travel may be required.
Education
- Master’s Degree in Railway Systems Engineering
- Certification in AutoCAD and/or other Design tools is desirable.
Experience
- Experience in railway site management.
- Strong knowledge of Railway products and services across market segments.
- 5+ years in design, drafting, or engineering.
- Knowledge of ETCS (European Train Control Solution) and deployment experience.
- Background in Environmental, Health, and Safety is desired.
- Experience managing by Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Quality-focused, team player.

Compensation: $135,000 – $145,000 CAD / year
