We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to support ourToronto team and provide leadership, technical expertise and discipline in project execution. Working with a team of highly motivated engineers, designers and project managers, you’ll champion the delivery of high-quality projects that meet or exceed client expectations in both technical delivery, quality and schedule. You’ll also be a strong safety proponent /leader for our safety policies and our culture of caring. You will oversee the preparation of models, engineering specifications, drawings and calculations in support of engineering activities. This will include overseeing the preparation of planning documents, reports, studies, and calculations.

You’ll develop technical execution plans for projects, including scope, schedule, quality, health and safety, risk management, and change management plans; you’ll negotiate and manage sub-agreements, track, control and report on project performance, while also providing technical guidance for deliverables and developing, mentoring and empowering the project team. With your focus on our clients’ satisfaction, you’ll maintain regular and effective communication with clients.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering
  • At least 15 years of engineering design of water-specific facilities projects all together with at least 5 years of a design manager/project engineer role experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing the technical, contractual and financial risks associated with both small and large/complex water facilities projects
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary coordination projects and /or portfolio management or multi-project management, including project planning, scheduling, estimating and budgeting, progress and performance monitoring and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience in preliminary design, detailed design and contract administration /construction management
  • Experience with sales and business development, including writing technical proposals
  • Experience delivering water facilities engineering projects in the Southwestern Ontario and/or Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is an asset
  • Ability to drive to project sites within 3 hours of the Greater Toronto Area
  • Knowledge of relevant agency and industry approvals, standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Strong coordination, written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects concurrently.
