The Dropbox Engineering Team builds the technology that creates more enlightened ways of working for hundreds of millions of people. Role Description
The Incident and Disaster Team aims to reduce customer pain by speeding up incident response through standardized incident management processes and tooling, as well as through incident prevention strategies such as disaster readiness, chaos testing, safer tooling, stronger controls, automated conformance tests, and better education.
At Dropbox, Site Reliability Engineers are mission-critical for Dropbox’s success. The SRE team has a major impact inside Dropbox engineering, from testing our disaster readiness to building our in-house multi-exabyte storage system Magic Pocket. Check out the Dropbox Tech Blog to learn more!
The Site Reliability Team consists of hybrid systems and software engineers responsible for managing large-scale infrastructure while improving reliability and automation. SREs are integrated within the Platform team, and we’re looking for engineers who want to develop infrastructure software, maintain it, and scale it. You will join a small, impactful team within Dropbox that significantly influences the world.

Responsibilities
- Build scalable infrastructure to manage metadata for hundreds of billions of files, hundreds of petabytes of user data, and millions of concurrent connections.
- Design systems and processes for Dropbox engineers to manage and deploy software into production.
- Automate server provisioning to reduce labor for networking engineering and datacenter operations teams, enabling new servers to self-provision and join the fleet automatically.
- Partner with engineering teams to develop solutions that meet business needs.
- Minimize the risk of reliability-related failures affecting durability, availability, performance, and correctness.
Many Dropbox teams operate on-call rotations, and all engineers are expected to participate. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details about these rotations.
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of industry experience.
- Experience leading multi-phase, cross-team reliability efforts and setting technical strategies for impactful projects.
- Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software development.
- Ability to diagnose technical problems, debug code, and automate routine tasks.
- Experience owning and delivering semi-annual/annual goals, solving open-ended problems, and defining operational processes.
- Strong track record of defining and delivering technical roadmaps, managing dependencies, and taking responsibility for decisions and failures.
- Ability to consider customer needs, leverage stakeholder input, and balance customer and business goals in technical decisions.
- Understanding of business context to prioritize and scope projects appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of risk management practices and impact analysis methodologies.
- Experience mentoring teammates and sharing knowledge through talks, blogs, or documentation.
- Ability to innovate, support experimentation, and drive organizational changes.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, relationship building, and fostering inclusion.
Compensation
Canada Pay Range: $200,600—$271,400 CAD. This is an expected annual salary/OTE, subject to change. Compensation includes bonus programs, stock options (RSUs), and other benefits.
