About The Role

We are looking for a Business Analyst for Data Catalog squad. Data Catalog BA is responsible building requirements for data catalog, which is an organized inventory of data assets within an organization. This role involves collaborating with Data Governance Analysts, Data Stewards to understand Data accessibility requirements, translate into functional requirements for data catalog technical staff, and ensuring data is easily discoverable, accessible, and usable by various stakeholders.
What You’ll Do Here
- Provide feedback and input to product owner to define data catalog vision and roadmap.
- Define requirements to maintain and update the data catalog to ensure it accurately reflects all data assets within the organization.
- Define and add rules to identify and classify data assets according to IFC Data Governance categories and standards.
- Define data quality rules in the catalog. Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Regularly audit the data catalog to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Define functional and technical requirements for automation in Data Catalog and augmentation with Snowflake and Unity catalog native capabilities. These requirements will be for technical team.
- Partner with data stewards, data governance analysts, and IT teams to understand data needs and improve data accessibility.
- Provide training and support to data stewards and users on how to utilize the data catalog.
- Manage metadata associated with data assets, including descriptions, relationships, and usage. Enhance metadata quality to facilitate better data discovery and utilization.
- Generate reports and dashboards that provide insights into the usage and quality of data assets. Analyze data catalog metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in data catalog management.
- Document User Stories effectively so they can be clearly understood by Front End, Back End developers and Quality Assurance.
- Identify and convey the impacts on Business processes to support change management in Business units via train the trainer documents and procedures.
- Build a solid, reusable and thorough system documentation to be used by any stakeholders.

What You Bring To The Table
- University degree or post-graduate in a field of data management, computer sciences or equivalent.
- Proven experience in data management, data governance, or related roles.
- Experience with data catalog tools and platforms (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Informatica).
- Experience with maintaining business glossaries.
- Knowledge of data management principles, data governance framework and best practices, data quality standards and data classification.
- Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, law 25).
- Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for business stakeholders and vice versa.
- Understanding of Data Lifecycle.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in agile delivery mode and understanding of product centric approach.
- An outcome oriented, systems thinking approach to solving sophisticated and ambiguous problems to generate reusable solutions.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
