Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plan and direction
- Manage all aspects of financial accounting including preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reporting and analysis.
- Effectively communicate the financial performance of the company and provide financial reports to executives, senior management and external users.
- Supervise and lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
- Manage month/year end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing and reporting.
- Oversee and manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collections, fixed assets, revenue recognition, cost of sales, budget performance, internal controls, government remittances, payments.
- Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures and Best Practices.
- Collaborate with various departments to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance financial processes, systems, and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain positive and continuous collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Health & Safety, IT, HR, Properties, and Development.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including analyzing WIP (work-in-progress) and ensuring proper control over project costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, vendors, clients, and bonding and insurance brokers to support the organization’s financial objectives.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Experience with Oracle Cloud is an asset
- Minimum 5-10 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role (preferably in the construction industry)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
- High level of diligence and attention to detail
- Ability to produce accurate reports and outputs, ensuring precision and excellence
- Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines and focusing on results
- Strong, proven leadership abilities in implementing a culture of continuous improvement and positively impacting change management
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Proven ability to conduct oneself in a professional, positive and respectful manner
- Strong computer skills, and strong Microsoft Office knowledge (advanced Excel)
