Established in 1926, RHS offers workshops and speaker series on a wide variety of topics. Membership is open to anyone interested in gardening, horticulture, and environmental stewardship.
Summary
The Vice-President is responsible for supporting the President in growing the Society’s membership, enhancing member engagement, and organizing initiatives that align with the Society’s goals and mission.
Responsibilities
- Membership Growth
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to attract new members, including families and younger gardeners.
- Help organize outreach efforts (local events, social media, posters, word of mouth).
- Member Engagement
- Support planning and coordination of garden tours, workshops, and other events.
- Work with social media coordinator to develop social media content
- Encourage member participation and feedback.
- Community and Partnerships
- Identify and foster partnerships with local nurseries, schools, community centers, and garden supply shops.
- Represent the club at community events or help prepare promotional material.
- Administrative Support
- Keep simple records of membership, attendance, and club activities.
Skills & Experience
- Passion for gardening and community-building
- Friendly and welcoming
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic comfort with email and social media (optional but helpful)
- Collaborative and dependable
- Tech savvy is an asset
- Good planning, organizational and creative skills
- Demonstrates commitment to the principles of equity, inclusion and diversity in a collaborative environment.
