SOFTWARE DEV ENGINEER

The Software Development Engineer will serve as the first level of support and development for production software application issues related to merchandising systems. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and performance of internal applications, with direct impact on customer experience. The position offers a dynamic environment for engineers looking to grow their coding expertise and gain exposure to a broad range of technologies.

Terms

• 4-month contract
• Onsite, Monday – Friday

Responsibilities

• Act as first-line support for production software issues across merchandising applications.
• Develop and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and implement fixes for internally developed code (Perl, C/C++, Java).
• Execute SQL queries to support data analysis and issue resolution.
• Enhance systems that collect and report feature metrics.
• Collaborate with development teams on corporate and divisional software projects.
• Update and improve existing software applications.
• Automate support processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Document systems and support procedures thoroughly.

Must-haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 2–5 years of relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Perl, C/C++, Java.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Mason, Perl CGI, Oracle SQL, HTML.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments.
• Interest in long-term career growth in software development.
