Sheriff’s Department Disqualifier

The duties of this position include planning, overseeing, and participating in inspection and code enforcement activities, reviewing permit applications, assisting the public, maintaining records, and related tasks. Work is performed under the direction of the Chief Building Inspector, with supervision over Building Inspections staff.

Requirements:

Associates/Technical degree with coursework in building trades or related field, and 5+ years experience in building construction trades and code enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience is preferred. State certifications are required or must be obtained within two years. A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.

Compensation:

Salary range: $74,582 – $94,435. Halifax County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including membership in the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System.

Signing Bonus:

A non-refundable signing bonus of $7,500 will be paid in the first paycheck following employment. Additionally, a retention bonus of $7,500 will be paid after 12 months of employment in the same position.
