Our client is seeking a Windows Server Administrator for a 12-month contract term in Vegreville, AB, 100% on-site. You will be helping an existing team with a number of Upgrade and Support initiatives in the Windows Server environment.
Required Skills
Demonstrated experience with the following technologies:
- Candidate should have experience working with mission critical systems and understand the processes necessary to work on these systems without disrupting stakeholders.
- Candidate must be able to work with VMWare ESXi Servers, VCSA, VMotion, virtual machines (VMs) and associated storage area networks. Must be able to build new VMs with a variety of Operating Systems and backup/restore existing VMs. Must be able to build and modify VMWare distributed network switches.
- Candidate must have experience working with Linux at an advanced level, including package managers, drive partitioning, environment hardening, interfacing with Windows AD environments, and the use of Linux docker.
- Candidate must have experience working with Windows Servers and Workstations at an advanced level, including creating and modifying group policies, AD configuration, patch management, drive partitioning, environment hardening, Windows networking and interfacing Windows AD with networking equipment to provide single sign on functionality.
- Candidate must have a good understanding of networking and direct experiencing working with Cisco Switches and Routers, including updating firmware, working with VLANs, working with STP and configuring both static and dynamic routing.
- Candidate must have a good understanding of firewalls and direct experiencing working with the creation of firewall rules and implementation of VPNs.
Tasks
- Replace existing firewalls, network switches and routers
- Replace existing servers and workstations
- Work with field staff to remotely replace existing firewalls
- Reorganize Servers from an existing DMZ to a new Purdue Model L3.5 DMZ
- Migrate Cellular firewalls from Telus’ SIPA network to Telus’ new Jasper IoT network
- Design and build disaster recovery networks and servers for Electronic Security Key environment
- Design and build disaster recovery networks and servers for Cyber Asset management environment
- Upgrade Microsoft Windows Servers and Linux to the latest versions
- Migrate log forwarders from Splunk to MS Sentinel
- Install and commission an additional SolarWinds Orion polling engine. Configure SolarWinds Orion to collect performance data from SCADA Concentrators
- Work with field staff to roll out CCTV systems and backend servers
- Harden Windows Servers, Linux Servers , Cisco Switches and Routers, Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls according to CIS best practices
- Write documentation for projects and tasks
