Job Function :
Support the Director – Power System IT by managing major software systems at the Ontario Grid Control, contributing to corporate performance, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, safety, and system efficiency. This includes industry trend analysis, collaboration with regulators and partners, and ensuring compliance with market rules and regulations.
General Accountabilities :
- Assist in work and resource planning, and setting department vision for Power System IT.
- Oversee Power System IT investments to ensure enterprise value.
- Collaborate with business units to address their requirements.
- Contribute to strategic business planning.
- Lead systems architecture and power system improvement initiatives.
- Work with management and partners to identify improvements.
- Develop strategies for regulatory submissions and prepare evidence.
- Manage specialists in systems architecture, networks, and infrastructure.
- Provide strategic advice and direction across departments.
- Manage external consultants and vendors.
- Engage with industry groups and develop vendor relationships.
- Communicate strategic opportunities to executive leadership.
- Coordinate with other managers to implement improvements and ensure compliance.
- Develop work and resource plans for Power System IT.
- Ensure staffing strategies support long-term expertise retention.
- Lead development and maintenance of real-time system applications.
- Manage budgets and asset strategies.
- Align corporate and regulatory objectives with technology strategies.
- Collaborate on system functionalities and enhancements.
- Develop budget estimates and business plans.
- Ensure safety, asset integrity, security, and system reliability.
- Represent Hydro One in external committees and standards bodies.
- Negotiate with suppliers to meet company needs.
- Conduct performance reviews and monitor service levels.
Managerial Accountabilities :
Selection Criteria :
BA or BSc in Computer Science or Engineering, with at least 12 years of IT experience managing services, including governance, ITIL, financial management, and strong communication skills. Ability to assess risks, influence stakeholders, lead teams, and think strategically.
