OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Directorof Engagement facilitates inter-departmental child and youth and family-centeredservice response. The Director of Engagement creates and implementingstrategies that engage children, youth and families in building upon theirstrengths, skills and confidence to fulfil our responsibilities in thecommunity. This position will require scheduled travel to First Nationscommunities. This position will work Monday to Friday in office. The incumbentmust be able to work on site, sit for extended periods, and be able to travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
· Serve as Director for the MemengwaaYouth Transitional Housing and Outreach Program, and the Wellness Team.
· Participate in monthly meetings withthe Running White Wolves Youth Council.
· Work in collaboration withstakeholders to meet the needs of youth in the program and the organization.
· Liaise with the organization Directorsand Supervisors to facilitate meaningful engagement of children, youth andfamilies with services built to support them.
· Work closely with the ProgramSupervisors to engage in program planning.
· Co-organize regularly occurringcommunity outreach to build positive and respectful relationships with children,young people and families who are supported by the organization.
· Liaise with organization Directors andSupervisors to create opportunities in the workplace and with communityorganizations for the development of skills, experience and confidence.
· Work in collaboration with theTraining and Fund Development to access funding opportunities to support thedevelopment and implementation of program and services centered on the ShawenimAbinoojii’s strategic priorities.
· Provide leadership and modelling tostaff on positive youth engagement, with a focus on relational practice;maintain supportive relationships with children, youth and families.
· Compile program information and datainto regular reports to Board of Directors.
· Coach the Memengwaa and Wellness teamson reporting and stats, to meet various program reporting requirements.
· Evaluate data, current practices andoutcomes and incorporate best practices into service delivery approach.
· Create, update, and/or adapt programpolicies and procedures.
· Assess and adapt program and servicedelivery models on an ongoing basis to ensure supports are provided in ourAnishinaabe ways.
· Participate in various communityinitiatives, with a focus on improving the experiences of First Nationschildren, youth and families
· Support the program supervisor, orother team members when needed, to deal with crises, emergencies, or to problemsolve as required.
· Oversee special projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Stronginterpersonal communication skills.
· Master’sof Social Work (MSW) and/or relevant professional experience.
· Minimum3 years supervisory and management experience.
· Experiencedeveloping and evaluating social service programs.
· Extensiveknowledge of community resources.
· Ability to apply a strengths-based approach to workingwith people with diverse life experiences.
· Demonstrateknowledge and/or understanding of First Nations perspectives, culture, andphilosophies.
· Experience inreport writing.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in afast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and create work plans.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, wordprocessing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), E-mail (Outlook) and Internet,including ability to type.
