About the role
Job Overview
The Senior Manager, Donor Relations and Stewardship is responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of donor relations and stewardship initiatives to foster long-term engagement and support.
This role is essential in achieving Parkinson Canada’s fundraising strategic goals, ensuring donors experience meaningful interactions with the organization to ensure long-term engagement and maximize donors’ philanthropic giving.
Working with the Senior Director, Events, Donor Stewardship, and Brand Partnerships, the Senior Manager, Donor Relations and Stewardship will lead and develop the organization’s donor relations program for all levels of giving, which includes gift acceptance and management, acknowledgement, donor recognition (including events) and reporting. The incumbent will have a high degree of autonomy in implementing the donor relations and stewardship program.
This role ensures that donors feel informed, appreciated, and inspired by the impact of their giving. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a deep understanding of donor-centric practices, exceptional communication skills, and a strategic mindset.
What You’ll Be Doing
Donor Stewardship and Relations Strategy, Data and Reporting
- Work closely with the Senior Director, Events, Donor Stewardship, and Brand Partnerships (and other stakeholders) to develop, implement and manage a strategic plan for donor relations that is integrated into Parkinson Canada’s fundraising strategy.
- Design and implement comprehensive stewardship strategies for all giving levels to promote donor retention and growth.
- Develop tailored stewardship plans for major and principal donors, including customized communications, impact reports, and engagement opportunities.
- Provide strategic advice to the Philanthropy team pertaining to donor relations activities.
- Develop short- and long-term strategies to define measurable outcomes of a successful donor relations program.
- Develop a naming opportunity tracking system, where applicable.
- Design and implement financial reporting strategy for all donors to Parkinson’s.
- Provide and execute strategic donor relations planning, management, and implementation of project-specific campaigns.
- Set donor relations standards across the organization.
- Responsible for ensuring a comprehensive tracking system for donor relations, including all aspects of recognition and stewardship for all donors.
- Work closely with database and operations staff to ensure accurate and timely tracking of donor stewardship activities in CRM systems.
- Leverage CRM, donor analytics, and segmentation tools to track donor behaviour, identify stewardship opportunities, and improve retention.
- Utilize AI and automation tools (e.g., for personalized acknowledgments, predictive modeling, donor journey mapping) to scale stewardship efforts efficiently and effectively.
- Partner with data operations teams to develop dashboards and reporting that measure stewardship performance and donor engagement.
- Continuously assess and improve stewardship processes using data-driven insights to enhance donor satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Generate reports to analyze the effectiveness of stewardship efforts and provide strategic recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor trends and innovations in donor stewardship and integrate best practices into strategies
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of donor stewardship staff.
- Manage the donor stewardship team by providing direction, establishing and evaluating performance.
- Lead the development of donor relations policies, protocols, and procedures that align with organizational goals and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure all programs are executed to the highest standards.
- Develop and direct the donor stewardship program’s annual budget, determine fiscal requirements and monitor expenditures.
- Work closely with senior leadership, volunteers, and external stakeholders to support Parkinson Canada’s strategic goals.
Event and Project Oversight
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and produce Parkinson Canada’s annual impact report and other fundraising assets.
- Oversee the creation of stewardship materials such as thank-you letters, donor reports, and annual impact publications.
- Develop and manage stewardship plans for major donors to Parkinson Canada.
- Plan and execute high-impact stewardship events and donor recognition opportunities, including dedications, donor briefings, and annual recognition events.
- Partner with Philanthropy and Event teams to ensure donors are meaningfully engaged and acknowledged during Parkinson Canada-hosted activities.
What is needed to succeed in this role?
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in related field.
- 6+ years of non-profit experience, with a proven track record of managing donor relations and stewardship programs.
- Strong understanding of donor stewardship and engagement, with the ability to translate organizational vision into impactful events and campaigns.
- Knowledge in developing stewardship plans, recognition societies, donor journey and donor reporting.
- 3+ years of people leadership with a track record for developing talent with a coaching mindset.
- Ability to thrive in an agile, dynamic environment. A desire and ability to roll up your sleeves and work alongside those you manage and mentor.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Motivated, proactive, dynamic, creative and results-oriented mindset and approach.
- High level of tact and diplomacy in dealing with donors.
- Ability to balance competing priorities.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Raisers Edge, Luminate Online, and/or comparable online fundraising and nonprofit marketing tools.
- A passion for Parkinson Canada’s mission and a deep commitment to improving the lives of individuals affected by Parkinson’s.
Conclusion
Salary Range: $92,000-$98,000
