Description

At Loblaw Digital, we know that our customers expect the best from us. Whether that means building the best, most innovative online shopping experience, or designing an app that will impact the lives of people across the country, we’re up for the challenge. From our office in Downtown Toronto, we’ve created leading eCommerce experiences in the online grocery shopping, beauty, pharmacy, and apparel spaces, and we’re only just getting started.

Why is this role important?

As a Staff iOS Developer at Loblaw Digital, you’ll serve as the key technical lead for our iOS mobile experiences. You will focus on ensuring architectural consistency, modularity, and high performance across our suite of iOS applications. In this role, you will be a trusted partner across engineering, product, and design teams, shaping both short-term deliverables and long-term technical direction.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own iOS Technical Strategy: Lead the technical vision and implementation for key areas of our iOS apps, including Homepage, Browse, and PDP components.
  • Champion SDUI and Performance: Guide the adoption of Server-Driven UI patterns, ensuring dynamic page loading, headless component rendering, and overall app performance optimization.
  • Lead Cross-Team Initiatives: Drive initiatives that span multiple iOS surfaces, such as unified navigation, analytics (Snowplow, OTEL), deep linking, and personalization frameworks.
  • Mentor and Uplevel Teams: Mentor senior developers and influence engineering culture, setting high standards for code quality and technical decision-making.
  • Architectural Consistency: Ensure modularity and reusability across our iOS codebase, particularly as we integrate legacy and modern codebases (UIKit, SwiftUI).
  • Drive Tooling and CI/CD Improvements: Contribute to the evolution of developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring standards to support sustainable velocity.

Does This Sound Like You?

  • 8+ years of professional iOS development experience, with deep expertise in Swift, UIKit, and modern architectural patterns.
  • Proven track record of leading platform modernization efforts, such as implementing SDUI or creating shared component systems.
  • Experience with performance instrumentation and debugging tools (Instruments, Firebase Perf, Crashlytics) and familiarity with observability platforms (Snowplow, OTEL).
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams, influencing technical direction without direct authority.
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or multi-surface platform environments is a plus

How You’ll Succeed:

At Loblaw Digital, we seek great people to continually strengthen our culture. We believe great people model our values, are authentic, build trust and make connections.

We’re able to keep innovating because our colleagues are passionate about their work and excited about the future of eCommerce.
