The Group Risk Management Real Estate Development team provides independent assessment of business and financial risks for individual borrowers as a 2nd Line of Defence in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Governance.
Job Description
The Associate Director will support functions such as effective monitoring and control of all material credit risks across RBC’s Real Estate Lending Portfolio, and assessment of risks at a transactional level for each credit. Responsibilities include coaching business partners, maintaining the risk profile, aligning with business strategies, operational effectiveness, and enhancing client experience.
Team is open to candidates from Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary, in order of preference.
What will you do?
- Adjudicate Real Estate credit applications within your delegated lending limits, influencing portfolio quality through risk assessment and data quality.
- Ensure respectful treatment of clients and colleagues, maintaining professional relationships.
- Lead and apply performance management practices with risk managers.
- Partner with stakeholders to achieve results, aligning the team with business strategies while maintaining risk standards.
- Coach business partners to develop strategies and leverage RBC resources to minimize costs.
- Ensure processes and controls are in place and followed to protect shareholder interests, adhering to policies and procedures.
- Proactively seek and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication, utilizing resources including other risk teams.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- At least 5 years of commercial banking and real estate lending experience, with strong credit skills. GRM experience preferred.
- Undergraduate degree in business or risk-related field; Master’s in Finance, Risk, MBA, or pursuing CFA/FRM preferred.
- Strong risk assessment and analysis skills.
- Business and financial insight.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Nice-to-have
- Industry knowledge (real estate).
- Knowledge of RBC risk policies, procedures, Folios, etc.
