Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our staffing practice has an opening for a Sr. Manager – Application Development to place at our client. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership in application development teams, with a strong background in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
Location: Toronto, ON
In Office Frequency: Hybrid – 2 days a week (Monday & Thursday) + 1 Friday/month
What You’ll Be Doing:
As Senior Manager, Digital Core, you’ll be at the center of digital transformation for a leading direct-to-consumer financial institution. You’ll be responsible for delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects and leading a high-performing team of development specialists.
- Manage a team of developers, DevOps engineers, and QA automation testers.
- Ensure delivery of innovative products and services using Agile and SDLC best practices.
- Provide oversight of solution design, test-driven development, and code reviews.
- Drive execution across pods, balancing production escalations with new initiatives.
How You’ll Succeed
- Understanding Requirements: Work with business and internal partners to define, negotiate, and manage services. Monitor SLAs and implement corrective actions where needed.
- People Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate a high-performing team. Maximize contributions and support professional growth.
- Relationship Management: Partner with business, PMs, and solution teams to design and implement applications. Provide strategic advice on technology solutions to improve business outcomes.
Who You Are
- Experienced hands-on Senior Development Manager with proven leadership in building customer-facing solutions.
- Skilled in solution design with strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes. Azure/OpenShift exposure is an asset.
