THE ROLE
We are seeking an Intermediate/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical, Process, and Piping (MPP) team. In this role, you will lead engineering efforts across a wide variety of industrial, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects. You’ll collaborate with a multi-disciplined team to design dependable solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as project Discipline Lead – define scope, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate cross-discipline project teams.
• Develop detailed mechanical equipment specifications and support equipment selection and vendor drawing reviews.
• Lead the design, specification, and layout of piping systems for new and existing facilities in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Understanding of pipe stress analysis and corrective measures requirements.
• Review and approve piping material specifications and component selections.
• Oversee the development of isometric and orthographic drawings, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Conduct 3D model reviews.
• Participate in site visits for data collection, constructability reviews, and field engineering support.
• Support field work including investigations, construction supervision, and commissioning.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and design oversight to junior team members.
• Participate in internal standards development and continuous improvement initiatives.
WHAT YOU BRING
Education & Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGNB.
Experience & Skills:
• 8+ years in an industrial consulting or design environment.
• Strong project coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as a leader within a multidisciplinary team.
• Previous experience in Pulp & Paper and industrial piping is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license for site visits.
