ARMA is seeking a Director of Data Governance & Analytics to build and lead our enterprise-wide data and analytics capability from the ground up. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services, this strategic and hands-on role will shape and execute our data strategy, establish robust data governance frameworks, and drive the adoption of analytics and AI to enable smarter, data-driven decision-making.
This is a pivotal role at a time of significant transformation, including the implementation of a new ERP system and integration with Salesforce CRM. You will play a critical part in defining the data foundation that will support ARMA’s long-term sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of a holistic data strategy.
- Partner with the IT team and support the development of policies, standards, and practices to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with legislation, including the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
- Develop and implement a robust reporting and analytics framework, utilizing tools like Power BI
- Develop a deep understanding of the operational needs of ARMA as a business and act as a liaison between the business units and technical resources.
- Partner with IT and organization leaders to ensure seamless data migration and integration during ERP rollout.
- Identify use cases and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance forecasting accuracy and improve program outcomes.
- Collaborate with executives and teams to promote data-driven decision-making across ARMA.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing analytics team as the function grows.
- Provide actionable insights through data analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Develop dashboards, comprehensive analytics, and KPIs to support operational efficiency and corporate decision-making.
- Foster and promote organization-wide adoption of advanced analytics and AI through the development of employee training, education, and change management programs; and
- Support compliance and reporting at all levels in the organization.

- Ethical Practice: Integrates core values, throughout all organizational and business practices and acts with personal, professional, and behavioral integrity.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to relate to and communicate with the Board, Councils, employees, government and other key stakeholders. Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders and promote a highly effective management team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- 10+ years in data analytics, BI, or data strategy roles; 5+ years in leadership.
- Proficient in SQL
- Proven experience in building data governance frameworks and data strategies.
- Strong hands-on expertise with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and knowledge of ERP & CRM data models.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and analytics innovation.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Project Management experience is an asset, including leading projects using recognized project management methodologies.
- Preferred:
- Experience in sustainability, recycling, or related industries.
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations.
- Cloud analytics experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
