Munich Re Canada (Life) is recruiting for its 2026 team of permanent entry-level Actuarial Associates. We’re seeking client-focused individuals who are looking to join a team that will lead them on the path towards a successful career in the insurance space, where they’ll go on to realize their personal and professional potential.

Position Overview

As an Actuarial Associate, you’ll start your career with Munich Re within one of our many departments. Working closely with other actuarial and business units, you’ll work on real industry problems while applying collaborative approaches to deliver high-quality solutions for both internal and external clients. As a valued member of the team, you’ll be called upon for your insights while receiving ongoing support and training to help position you as a future leader in the field.

Munich Re departments where Actuarial Associates may be recruited include:

  • Biometric Research: You will help with experience studies, assumption development for Life, Critical Illness, Disability, Long Term Care, and assist with assumption-setting for new business and in-force pricing quotes. You will gain skills working with large datasets, balancing multiple projects, and learning from industry experts.
  • Corporate Actuarial: Responsible for financial results of the Life & Health business in Canada and the Caribbean. You will collaborate across functions, provide expertise, set assumptions for policy liabilities, build complex models, and analyze the business to develop creative solutions.
  • Global Actuarial Consulting Group (GACG): Provides actuarial consulting internally within Munich Re globally. You will work on diverse projects, develop a strong technical foundation, and learn from seasoned professionals.
  • Individual or Group Reinsurance Solutions (Pricing): Focuses on acquiring and maintaining new business through client relations, developing solutions, and evaluating product profitability. You will work on projects like developing client strategies, profitability reporting, market research, and quoting on special business.

All opportunities are based in Toronto. Department assignment will depend on your interests, skills, and business needs.

Qualifications

We value a strong desire to provide exceptional client service, energy, enthusiasm, and initiative. The qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Risk Management, or equivalent, in good academic standing
  • Completion of at least two actuarial exams with progress towards ASA
  • Relevant internship or co-op experience in Canadian Life and Health Insurance/Reinsurance
  • Experience in financial analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to build positive professional relationships and deliver good client service
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Leadership qualities such as curiosity, integrity, and drive

Preferred skills include proficiency in SQL and/or Access, familiarity with GGY Axis and DataLink, and programming skills (e.g., Python, Java, VBA, C++/C#). This opportunity is open to graduating students and recent graduates within the past year.
