About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter, Specialty Solutions, to join our growing team!
What you’ll do here:

  • Accept, reject, endorse, renew or cancel policies following Intact underwriting guidelines and procedures, applicable laws and regulations and subject to authority level as specified by underwriting manager.
  • Develop business opportunities and long-term meaningful relationships with our broker partners by providing legendary service.
  • Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
  • Answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers and underwriters through verbal and written correspondence.
  • Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
  • Review underwriting reports and make recommendations as required.
  • Communicate changes related to product pricing, underwriting guidelines and new products.
  • Support and mentor team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact.

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary education or any combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, the ability to work under pressure, and are flexible to change
  • Strong analytical, negotiating skills and business savvy
  • Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
  • Can make decisions in time sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action and take calculated risks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an intermediate Excel proficiency
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
