The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) is the leader in advancing exercise science and personal training in Canada by delivering the Gold Standard in education, research and certifications. Most of CSEP’s best and most visible work has been led by volunteers:
- The CSEP-PATH and its predecessors;
- The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines;
- The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines;
- The Get Active Questionnaire;
- The Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism (APNM) Journal editorial board; and
- Annual conferences for 55+ years, to name a few.
As a member of the CSEP Board of Directors, your contribution to the field will have a long-lasting, direct impact on exercise science in Canada. CSEP seeks representation through diversity of the institutional and industry stakeholder communities it serves, and diversity of personal and demographic characteristics represented in Canadian society, including gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, business experience, functional expertise, personal skills, and geographic location.
At the end of their term, directors may stand for, and be re-elected by the voting members for a further consecutive two years to a maximum of four consecutive years.
Members are hereby advised that the following positions are open for election to the CSEP Board of Directors:
- Treasurer (open to any CSEP eligible voting member )
- Director, Professional Members (open to any CSEP professional member )
- Director, Student (open to any CSEP student member )
- Ex-officio, non-voting roles (up to 3) with specific expertise, e.g. corporate law, government relations, or financial leadership (open to non-CSEP members )
Time commitment:
- One in-person meeting at CSEP’s annual conference;
- One in-person Board retreat (2 days) in the spring;
- Quarterly 1-hour virtual meetings; and
- Pre and post planning/preparation for each meeting (approximately 1 hour for each).
Application process steps:
- Nominations will be reviewed by the Governance and Nominations Committee who will then make recommendations to the Board.
- The Board will meet and review the recommendations and then motion for selection.
- The applicant will be notified if their application was, or was not successful to proceed to election by CSEP members.
