This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Senior Administrative Council (SAC) (Employee Group)

About the Role:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Administration and Services, the Associate Vice-President, Facilities Management (AVP, FM) will provide strategic leadership, including establishing goals and objectives to achieve effective environments for learning, conducting research, living, and working at Brock in alignment with our Strategic Plan.

The AVP, FM is responsible for the oversight of all components of facilities management, including utilities and services, capital and financial management, and asset management and sustainability.

The AVP, Facilities Management will:

  • Provide leadership and direction on the ongoing operations of capital planning, mechanical and electrical maintenance, general building maintenance, custodial operations, grounds, waste management and environmental sustainability initiatives;
  • Be accountable for the financial integrity of the utility operation, ensuring equitable rate structures, accurate billing, revenue recovery, budget development, and the prudent management of reserves to maintain long-term operational stability;
  • Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for facility development, including capital projects and space management;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners, including regulators and trade unions, to ensure the ongoing success of strategic plans.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. engineering, architecture, facilities management, business administration);
  • Significant experience in facilities management and demonstrated leadership experience;
  • Extensive knowledge of project management and design and planning;
  • Demonstrated ability to make data driven decisions;
  • Expert knowledge in Cogeneration and District Energy Systems;
  • Ability to develop tender documents, construction contracts, and consultant agreements in collaboration with external and internal partners, legal counsel and procurement in accordance with industry standards;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of applicable building codes, by-laws and regulations including provincial and municipal accessibility, fire, health and safety standards;
  • Valid, G-class Ontario driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract;
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and build trusting relationships with external and internal partners;
  • Strong leadership, communication, mediation, negotiation, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships;
  • Commitment to the principles of decolonization, reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • A graduate degree in Engineering or Business Administration;
  • Project Management Certification;
  • Professional engineer or architect certification;
  • Experience in a university setting and campus planning.
