GFL is seeking a Class 1 (FM) driver/operator in Terrebonne, Quebec, to operate various industrial vehicles supporting environmental services and emergency response operations (24/7).
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of specialized industrial vehicles, including:
- Combined units
- Vacuum trucks
- Hydro-excavation units
- Drybox trailers
- Dump trucks
- High-pressure water units
- Tractor-trailers
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to environmental emergencies using appropriate equipment such as vacuum trucks, hydro-vacs, and pressure washers.
- Transport hazardous materials safely in accordance with TMD regulations.
- Secure cargo and handle materials and equipment properly.
- Perform vehicle inspections before, during, and after trips to ensure safety and proper functioning.
- Comply with all applicable regulations, including hours of service, health and safety, and transportation laws.
- Operate vehicles during loading and unloading, following signals and ensuring equipment is correctly set up.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or violations immediately.
- Maintain accurate logs and documents such as driver logs, work tickets, bills of lading, and manifests.
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all deliveries are made with proper documentation, professionally and promptly.
- Communicate any issues related to customer service, mechanical problems, or delivery to supervisors/coordinators.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid Class 1 (FM) driver’s license with an impeccable driving record
- Experience driving manual transmission vehicles (mandatory)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including extended shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable working in confined spaces
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure
