CHIEF ENGINEER
Location: Horseshoe Bay
Department: Staffing Pool
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking applications from individuals interested in the position of Chief Engineer aboard our vessel in Horseshoe Bay. This role offers a dynamic work environment with travel opportunities and a flexible schedule aligned with the Horseshoe Bay fleet requirements, as directed by the supervisor on a monthly basis.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the ship’s propulsion and power systems.
- Monitoring, maintaining, and documenting the condition of the ship’s structure.
- Planning and directing regular emergency repairs, alterations, and assisting with drydock and refit programs.
- Organizing watch crew assignments related to machinery performance.
- Supervising the vessel’s engineering maintenance program, including inspections of onboard equipment.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies for ship inspections and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Making operational judgments based on mechanical conditions.
- Leading safety drills and emergency response training.
- Collaborating with the Engineering Superintendent to improve safety, operations, and employee performance.
- Ensuring security compliance and conducting inspections and audits.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
- Transport Canada 1st Class Motor Certificate of Competency.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Completion of supervisory and business courses is an asset.
Work Experience
- Experience as a Chief Engineer or equivalent watch engineer.
- Supervisory experience demonstrated.

Additional Information
The salary range is $135,600 – $150,700 per year, with starting salary based on experience and internal considerations. Exceptional candidates may be offered a salary above this range.
