Opportunity

The Collateral Management Analyst is responsible for supporting the Collateral Management daily operations and initiatives including counterparty risk management, liquidity operations and system configuration.
The Analyst will be expected to process daily collateral movements, support internal client requests, complete margin analytics and reporting, and contribute to efficiencies within the department. These efficiencies will be developed through reporting development, data analysis, and workflow improvements. This role provides regular interaction with front office, risk, operations and technology teams, offering exposure to AIMCo wide initiatives and the opportunity to build knowledge in collateral, market and regulatory frameworks. This is a fixed term role that will end on March 31, 2026

Responsibilities Include:

  • Initiate and respond to margin calls with counterparties for all margin-based strategies including Derivative, Repo and Futures trades
  • Calculate net exposures across a multi pool trading strategy, while managing the inventory of all collateral positions against counterparties
  • Investigate and resolve margin call disputes with counterparties
  • Optimize collateral movements through rehypothecation and securities lending analysis in an effective manner.
  • Record trade transactions into the Collateral Management application, and the accounting book of record.
  • Prepare daily collateral reporting for Front Office and Senior Management.
  • Utilize internal platforms and third party tools to support margin processing and reconciliation.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and first point of contact on the collateral management application.
  • Document procedures/business processes and calculate monthly interest allocations

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Statistics or a related field.
  • CFA designation or enrollment in the program would be an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience working with investment concepts, practices, analysis and product types (futures, securities lending, derivatives, repo, equity finance, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of collateral management workflow.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, VBA, SQL, and Calypso would be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to foster collaborative relationships amongst internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and ability to manage varied work priorities.

Success Measures:

Successin this role will be demonstrated through accurate, timely execution of collateral processes, and a proactive approach to improving workflow efficiency. Clear analysis and reporting combined with strong collaboration across internal and external stakeholders will be key to supporting regulatory compliance and resolving issues. Demonstrating ownership, initiative, and attention to detail will drive success in the role and add value to the team’s daily operations.
