Our client is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to lead their financial reporting and accounting operations for 6-month contract. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing financial statements, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, while providing strategic financial guidance to senior leadership. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee consolidation processes for multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
- Manage the external audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.
- Ensure the organization’s accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls are designed and operating effectively.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions (e.g. leases, revenue recognition, financial instruments, business combinations).
- Maintain and update the IFRS accounting policy manual in alignment with new standards and interpretations.
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support tax compliance and regulatory filings in coordination with external advisors.
- Collaborate with FP&A on variance analysis, forecasts, and budgeting activities.
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants and finance professionals.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent) required.
- 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior reporting role.
- Strong technical expertise in IFRS standards and financial reporting.
- Experience in managing audits and working within multi-entity or international environments is an asset.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
