The Career.
As Culinary Services Manager for a V!VA Community, you will be empoweredto manage all aspects of the food service department including the maindining room, the pub, Perks! and the Assisted Living dining room. You willmentor a team of approximately 20 culinary service Team Members. You willwork along side the Executive Chef to deliver a consistently superiorculinary program throughout the Community.
V!VA Leaders work collaboratively together to provide excellence in serviceto our Community Members by creating places where they love to live andlaugh and are proud to invite their family and friends. They inspireinnovation, creativity, passion and a love of service for our TeamMembers. They are responsible for recruitment, training, performancemanagement and overseeing the daily activities of their teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the food services department
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to deliver superior service tothe Community Members
- Ensure quality food delivery, dining and catering service, set upand clean up of dining rooms and presentation of all areasincluding the Pub
- Role model and drive excellence in customer service throughoutthe Community
- Assure the implementation and efficient delivery of ourV!VAlicious/Dining Services program.
- Establish and assure the timely, open, and effectivecommunication of all food service Team Members with CommunityMembers, family members and guests, assuring excellentcustomer satisfaction
- Assist the Executive Chef in the development of and adheres tothe food services budget, ensuring the delivery of excellentservices and products while achieving the financial goals set forthe Community
- Responsibility of managing a licensed pub and associatedactivities
- Plans, organizes, and supervises the activities of the food service department to provide high quality food service along with the Executive Chef.
- Build, develop, and effectively manage all food service TeamMembers, optimizing individual and team performance througheffective leadership, mentoring, and training.
- Establish and monitor workflow, job routines, evaluateperformance and production, and make changes as necessary toimprove quality of service.
- Coordinates and participates fully in food service activities andspecial events as required.
- Establishes and oversees the scheduling of the food service teamincluding the daily cleaning duties.
- Determines what specific training and certification is required forfood handling Team Members and ensures that it is executedconsistently (e.g. Smart Serve, Food Handlers).
- Create revenue generating programs, activities and events thatadd value to the Community Members experience.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key suppliers.
- Participate in and attend all in-service training and educationprograms as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years hands-on experience in food service management in aretirement residence, hotel, banquet facility and/or restaurant
- 3-5 years management experience in a similar environment
- Graduate of a post-secondary institution in a culinary and/or foodservices program
- Have Smart Serve accreditation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortableinteracting with community members
- Strong computer skills for job-related functions including use ofexcel, word and various job-related software programs
- Ability to implement regulations such as the Health and Safety Actand, Food Handlers program.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy with the ability to work asa team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a large diverse group ofTeam Members.
- Experience with and the ability to plan and manage a budget.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Able to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods and lift amaximum of 50 lbs.
Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check including the vulnerablesector.
