Position Title : Dean of Spiritual Formation
Position Summary
The Dean of Spiritual Formation is a key leadership role at COTK College, responsible for advancing the college’s mission through oversight of spiritual formation and student development. This position provides strategic leadership in discipleship, mentorship, and holistic student growth. The Dean works closely with church and college departments to plan and execute events, activities, and strategies that promote student engagement and spiritual development.
The Dean of Spiritual Formation manages day-to-day spiritual formation operations including chapel services, student life events, special programs, and campus activities. This individual must demonstrate strong leadership, strategic decision-making, and the ability to build community through purposeful and well-coordinated experiences.
Responsibilities
Lead and implement all spiritual formation programming, creating opportunities for students to grow in their relationship with God
Oversee student life initiatives that promote personal development, leadership, and a vibrant community
Manage student housing assignments and move-in processes, ensuring a safe and welcoming residential environment
Maintain and coordinate the overall calendar of student and staff events
Communicate regularly with students to reinforce COTK values, expectations, and cultural priorities
Collaborate with college leadership, academic teams, and COTK Church pastors to align goals and initiatives
Plan and execute key programming elements such as small groups, chapels, intramurals, local outreach, mission trips, retreats, holiday events, and graduation
Develop annual strategies and measurable goals to strengthen spiritual formation and student life programming
Support enrollment and recruitment events such as Preview Days and prospective student visits
Make strategic decisions that align with COTK’s mission, exercising discernment and leadership
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented environment across campus
Build systems of student support including counseling, coaching, discipleship, and care
Ensure student accountability by clearly communicating and enforcing COTK College policies and procedures
Cultivate positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and church leadership
Develop and manage the departmental budget, maintaining records and operating within financial guidelines
Qualifications
Minimum of two years’ experience in student development, spiritual leadership, or a related field
Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that support student spiritual growth
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills
Demonstrated experience in team leadership and strategic planning
Ability to collaborate across departments and lead within a fast-paced ministry environment
Proficiency in basic computer software and technology tools
