We are seeking a strategic and experiencedDirector of Energy Policy to lead our strategic position on transmission and distribution policy, to coordinate across internal lines of business, and to align external positions with key stakeholders and agencies in Ontario. This role will shape the company’s response to evolving provincial and federal energy frameworks and ensure alignment with our long-term business strategy, regulatory compliance, and innovation objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze energy policy developments from the OEB, IESO, and government bodies
- Lead the development and execution of advocacy for strategic regulatory policy matters in support of Hydro One corporate goals
- Lead company strategy on key policy and regulatory issues including new transmission development, legislative and regulatory proposals, DER integration, rate design, and electrification
- Represent the company in regulatory consultations, industry associations, and stakeholder forums
- Collaborate with internal teams (Regulatory, Operations, Sustainability, Strategy) to align policy with business goals
- Identify policy risks and opportunities, and advise on funding or partnership initiatives
- Provide strategic direction and make strategic recommendations on policy matters to Hydro One’s senior leadership and Board of Directors
Selection Criteria
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations
- Strong knowledge of Ontario’s electricity sector, including government, OEB and IESO processes
- Advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or related field
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills
