Summary
A Failure Analysis Engineer uses a complex array of instructions and procedures to initiate the analysis process. Primary responsibilities include root cause failure analysis of electronic, mechanical and or electromechanical components including assemblies. In case where the failure has caused in the development of a new product, the engineer is expected to work with a team of engineers and analysts within the organization. On the other hand, complaints of failure received from end users, the failure analysis engineer has to communicate with the users who may not have the technical knowledge about the product. This position report to the Engineering Manager at MACK Technologies, Inc – Barrie.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine root cause of failure.
- Incorporate automation and improvement of failure analysis process.
- Interact with device and process development engineers to determine relationship of materials properties electrical performance and quality engineers assist in risk assessment.
- Identify optimum analytical approaches critical to problems.
- Coordinate analytical resources to ensure rapid and accurate results for manufacturing ramp.
- Conduct innovative use of new analytical tools, equipment and methodologies.
- Develop formal failure analysis report data and findings of complaint and other groups after analysis completion.
- Maintain and oversee calibration of analysis equipment.
- Train and support Failure Analysis Technicians
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in product, mechanical, or a closely related field of engineering is preferred
- In lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of experience in product, mechanical, or a closely related field of engineering is required.
- Extensive experience in product engineering
- Proficient in a large number of applications used for database management and reporting
- Skilled in communication, problem solving, and applying experience and expertise in an innovative manner
- Able to work in a large team while contributing his expertise and suggestions for quick execution of projects
- Able to handle stressful situations and work with wholehearted dedication in order to achieve the desired results in time
- Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
