Description
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced gaming regulatory and compliance lawyer with speciality advising on the full range of gaming regulations in the EMEA Region (ER) to support our management team. This role may primarily be based in Hong Kong or the United Kingdom, may include travelling, and offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advise senior management / executives on the gaming laws, rules and regulations, together with current best practices, of one or more ER jurisdiction, anticipate regulatory risk, advise on compliance with such gaming laws, rules and regulations and responsible gaming practices from time to time.
2. Draft and implement required compliance measures to mitigate risks, prevent penalties or shutdowns, or potential legal issues whilst keeping abreast of the developing landscapes in the relevant ER jurisdictions.
3. Advise, draft and deal with submissions to gaming regulatory authorities, including making applications to obtain new licences and/or to vary existing licenses to operate legally in the relevant ER jurisdictions.
4. Advise on wider gaming-related legal and compliance issues such as:
• intellectual property (copyright, trademarks, patents, and IP licensing);
• anti-money laundering compliance;
• consumer protection laws, gaming advertising guidelines and standards, data protection laws; anddispute resolution and litigation in the gaming industry.
5. Manage external counsel and other professional service providers, where required.
6. Provide legal support to senior managers, as and when needed.
Requirements
• At least 6-8 PQE gained at a law firm and/or in-house.
• Strong work experience and understanding of gaming regulations, licensing and compliance. Exposure to or experience in ER gaming regulatory and compliance work is highly preferred.
• Qualified in an ER jurisdiction or commonwealth qualified.
•Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or above.
