Growth Equity Investor – Toronto
About the Firm:
A Toronto-based investment fund with US ~$5B in assets under management across eight main funds. They specialize in growth equity investing and are currently deploying from their $900M Growth Fund VI and $500M Alignment Fund II, which is a specific fund dedicated to follow-on investments for companies that mature from their Growth Funds. Their typical Growth Fund check ranges from $20M to $50M in B2B software companies – such as Shopify, ClickUp, Armis, Cyera and Island – and their Alignment Fund investments can scale from $30M to $300M with Limited Partner (LP) Co-Investments and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). The team is a mix of investors, entrepreneurs, and operators who work closely with the Firm’s portfolio companies to help them scale. They also have a team of 20+ engineers and data scientists who work with their companies to accelerate their AI roadmaps post-investment.
The Role:
The Growth Equity Investor role is a unique opportunity to build your career. You’ll collaborate with peers across Investment, R&D ,Marketing, and Customer teams on initiatives spanning the full investment lifecycle—from sourcing and diligence to portfolio value creation. This role is based in Toronto (hybrid with flexible work from home) and requires significant travel (approximately 50% of your time). Candidates must be located in the GTA or willing and able to relocate.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Sourcing new investment opportunities: In collaboration with Investment and cross-functional teams, identify technology markets with the highest potential to produce outsize opportunities. Within these markets, pinpoint companies that are breaking out and creatively engage founders, investors and influencers by leveraging the Firm’s differentiated value-add offerings.
- Conducting diligence and making recommendations: With guidance from Lead Investors, handle all aspects of investment due diligence, including business, market, management, competitive analysis, financial/returns modelling, cap table analysisand legal diligence. From day one, you will play an active role in synthesizing findings and presenting recommendations to the Firm’s Investment Committee.
- Building relationships: You will meet and build deep relationships with globally recognized founders and management teams at pipeline and portfolio companies. You will develop a broad and active set of relationships with peers at other investment funds, influencers and service providers to the tech industry.
- Supporting portfolio companies: In partnership with value-add teams and Lead Investors, you will assist in identifying, scopingand supporting post-investment projects which accelerate growth and increase the value of the Firm’s portfolio companies.
What Success Looks Like:
- In your first year at the Firm, you will have developed a deep understanding of several large-scale technology markets. You will have sourced multiple opportunities across these markets that have been engaged and pursued into diligence by deal teams.
- You will have proven your ability to connect with hard-to-reach founders and will have consistently demonstrated superior communication and relationship-building skills.
- You will have mastered the Firm’s diligence “toolkit” and will be able to produce zero-defect material with guidance from investment team colleagues.

Persistence: You don’t stop when you hear no. When you see a transformational opportunity you will break down walls to make it happen.
Travel: You welcome the idea of traveling for work >50%of the time to meet founders, host events, work with the Firm’s portfolio companies and broaden your network.
Technology and Venture: You are deeply passionate about technology, start ups and identifying the next generational companies for the Firm to invest in.
The Firm has a diverse team. Many successful candidates have come to them with 2-4 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking/finance, big tech, or in start-up/scale-up tech environments.
