We are working with an incredible organization looking to hire Litigation Counsel. They are a Toronto-based organization. The company is active in technology, capital markets, and shareholder-driven investments, and operates as an activist investor with direct involvement in litigation, governance, and strategic corporate matters.
This is a full-time role; however, a part-time arrangement could be considered for the right candidate or if preferred. The team works remotely; however, the successful candidate should be based in the GTA or be able to travel to and from Toronto courts as required.
The position offers a base salary of up to $250,000 , commensurate with experience. It also includes benefits coverage, vacation allotment, and discretionary bonus eligibility.
The Litigation Counsel will work closely with the CEO and General Counsel, taking ownership of a diverse litigation portfolio that includes matters such as defamation, privacy, securities law, and corporate governance issues. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial litigation experience and be comfortable managing files independently from initiation through resolution, including court appearances or coordination with external counsel when required. The ideal candidate would be interested in handling the organization’s litigation mandates solely with some support from external counsel where needed.
The role offers a high degree of autonomy, variety in subject matter, and direct access to strategic decision-makers. Candidates selected for interviews will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement due to the confidential nature of the company’s operations.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of commercial litigation experience and the confidence to manage files independently, as well as be eligible to be called to the Ontario Bar.
