Live Production Support & Operations – System administrator

Overview

At Rebel, we’re reinventing ourselves. We were early adopters of cloud technology (AWS since 2016) and continue to evolve our infrastructure. We seek a proactive, hands-on system administrator to support our live production environment and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level support for websites, applications, and email services.
  • Handle occasional after-hours incidents (about 1–2 per week).
  • Maintain and improve hosting platforms like Plesk, Managed WordPress, Virtuozzo VPS.
  • Own and optimize infrastructure including AWS, Ghost, etc.
  • Support customer migrations and monitor system performance.
  • Troubleshoot issues, resolve them efficiently, and monitor costs.
  • Administer Linux/Unix and Windows systems.
  • Manage databases such as MSSQL and MySQL.
  • Develop scripts using Bash, Python, Perl, or JavaScript.
  • Utilize infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS OpsWorks.
  • Contribute to process improvements and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Strong systems administration skills with a focus on scalable infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of network protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SSL, firewalls, load balancers.
  • 5+ years in DevOps or sysadmin roles in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, ELB, EBS, S3, RDS, Route53).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and CI/CD practices.
  • Focus on performance, optimization, and reliability.
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to support team members.
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
