Project Overview:
The Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.
The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher-capacity subway system for passengers.

Main Building Structure Construction Engineer
The Main Building Structure Construction Engineer is responsible for ensuring structural design development aligns with constructability requirements, code compliance, and project objectives for major transit-related buildings such as stations, operations centers, and maintenance facilities.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with design consultants, technical advisors, and construction teams to review structural designs for main buildings and ensure alignment with project specifications, standards, and constructability requirements.
- Identify design coordination issues, interface conflicts, and constructability challenges, proposing alternative solutions where necessary.
- Support construction planning and staging activities by providing structural engineering expertise.
- Participate in value engineering sessions, technical reviews, and constructability assessments.
- Review design deliverables and shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes.
- Coordinate with geotechnical, architectural, and systems teams to ensure integrated design development.
- Support site investigations and existing condition assessments related to structural design.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (or eligible to obtain).
- 5+ years of experience in structural design and construction of major buildings, ideally within the rail/transit or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience supporting progressive design-build or P3 projects is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of applicable structural design codes and standards.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
