The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Manager, Government and Community Relations, reporting to the Director of Government & Public Affairs. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with government entities and agencies to enhance SAIT’s image and support its strategic goals. Responsibilities include policy development, stakeholder communication, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic government relations plans aligned with institutional priorities.
- Conduct environmental assessments and develop accountability measures.
- Represent SAIT at senior levels with external stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with internal management and external partners.
- Monitor political developments affecting SAIT.
- Manage department resources and budget.
- Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, and post-secondary institutions.
- Collaborate with other institutions to foster unified approaches to government relations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in social sciences or equivalent; master’s level preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in government, public policy, or community relations.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License and Canadian Passport; ability to travel domestically.
- Strong political judgment, understanding of policies, and fiscal management skills.
Additional Details
This is a one-year temporary salaried position with benefits. Salary range: $85,000 – $94,500. Hours per week: 37.5. Position end date: June 30, 2024. Application deadline: June 23, 2023.
