What is the Opportunity?
Aecon Civil East is delivering transformative infrastructure projects across Ontario. We are seeking a Quality Manager for a subway extension/tunnelling project in the GTA. The role involves developing and implementing quality management systems and procedures.
What You’ll Do Here
- Serve as the primary client contact for quality matters, overseeing project performance during design, construction, and handover phases.
- Define organizational structure and reporting responsibilities, including hiring and training staff.
- Ensure project teams understand and follow quality procedures to meet project requirements.
- Monitor project progress and control changes.
- Develop, maintain, and operate the QMS, ensuring conformance to standards.
- Initiate management reviews and continuous improvement actions.
- Prepare and implement Quality Audit Plans, report findings, and ensure documentation retention.
- Manage Non-Conformance Disposition and Corrective Actions, including metrics tracking.
- Lead a team of Quality Coordinators in inspection and testing plan preparation and review.
- Advocate for the QMS during team meetings and support operational managers.
- Coordinate consistency of QMS functions during project phases.
- Verify procurement documentation and materials compliance.
- Assist Project Management on Quality Objectives.
What You Bring To The Team
- Certified Engineering Technologist or equivalent education and training.
- Minimum 10 years in infrastructure construction, with 5+ years as a QC Manager preferred.
- ISO 9001:2015 internal or lead auditor certification.
- Experience with Canadian and international standards, especially in bridge, roads, and highways construction.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of Total Quality Management methodologies.
- Energetic, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Strong technical communication skills and personal responsibility.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
